Legal Perspective

This panel
will address legal issues that are of interest to co-op founders, directors,
and members. Panelists will identify the basic legal questions involved in
starting a cooperative, and will give examples of what co-ops have done to
creatively solve some of the practical problems that co-ops face. We will talk
about the laws that regulate co-ops; governance and Board responsibilities; how
to finance an acquisition or capital improvement; and the employment of members
and other workers.
